Here's a site all PEW SI parents will want to bookmark: https://sites.google.com/pgcps.org/pewspanishimmersion
This is a website curated by the Spanish Immersion Coordinator at PEW, Mr. Andy Gomez. On it, he posts information for each Spanish Immersion grade, a such as homework, the syllabus for each grade, and some handy at-home resources for parents. In the syllabus is a pretty clear explanation of the standards by which the children are evaluated. The site also hosts quizlets (online quizzes) and flash cards.
There's also a section of 'Parent Resources' that collects online resources parents can use to support the children's education. These are great to check out during summer or breaks! Videos, games and online books are available here, for math as well as language arts.
Did you know that your child's school ID number can be used to check out books from PG County libraries (in-person and online)? this is the kind of helpful info posted on Mr. Gomez' site.
Lastly, the site hosts bios of the teachers on the 'About Us' page. Learn a little more about your child's teacher, their background and interests there.
the application period for Spanish Immersion, orther language immersion, and specialty programs is now open. Also, siblings of lotter-assigned students are eligible for priority placement in those programs.
